エスクロー型マーケットプレイスと直販の違い
エスクロー型プラットフォームが受け取り確認まで代金を預かる理由、直販ショップが適している場面、手数料が実際の価格をどう変えるか。
Two business models
An escrow marketplace (G2G, Eldorado, PlayerAuctions) is a platform where thousands of independent sellers list offers. You pay the platform, the platform holds the money, and the seller is paid only after you confirm delivery. Competition between sellers keeps prices low; the platform takes a fee.
A direct seller shop (MMOGA, IGVault) stocks and delivers the goods itself. There is one price per product, delivery is handled by the shop's own team, and support is centralised. Prices are usually higher, but the experience is more predictable.
When escrow wins
For high-volume MMO currency — WoW gold, Lost Ark gold, PoE currency — the escrow marketplace is almost always cheaper and offers many delivery options. Buyer protection is built into the payment flow, so the risk of a bad seller is carried by the platform.
- Best price per unit thanks to seller competition.
- Money is released only after you confirm.
- Seller ratings and completed-order counts are visible per listing.
When a direct seller makes sense
If you want one invoice, EU consumer protection and a support desk that owns the whole order, a direct shop is worth a few percent extra. It is also the simpler choice for gift cards and top-ups where the product is standardised anyway.
How fees change the real price
Escrow platforms add a service fee at checkout and some payment methods carry a surcharge; direct shops bake everything into the sticker price. Lootlane compares the listing price per unit and links you to the marketplace where the final checkout total is shown before you pay — always compare the totals, not the headline rate, when the difference is small.
